This hat is a 4 inch brim with hand rolls and is inspired by by the hat Tom Selleck wears in the 1997 western, “Last Stand at Saber River.”
This is one fine beaver hat heading to Texas. We went with a 50% beaver in natural, in a very popular, Gus style shape, or Montana slope as I’ve heard it called as well.
I love the old fashioned vibe of this hat, and there was a moment when I was sewing the sweatband in where my mind shot back to the 1800’s. That nostalgic feeling I got is one of the main reasons I love building hats. They have that same effect as a poem, or movie, or book, that allows you to escape into your imagination, and mine goes to the 1800s. I can’t tell you how many times people in a store have looked at me and said, “you remind me of my dad or grandpa,” or my favorite is when they’ll look at me confused, scratching the top of their head, and say….”Dad.” Lol I love it! Thanks for taking a look!
